Statistics:
Kolkata Knightriders: KKR will be a pretty upbeat team when they come out to play against Kings XI Punjab with a win in their kitty from the last match. Pretty crucial match for them as this can boost their chances of qualifyinng for the semifinals. Luckily, they are up against the weakest team of this season and this should go in their favour.
With Saurav Ganguly hitting the form, we know he can win matches singlehandedly. The only drawback of thirs being bowling. Ishant Sharma needs to find his feet again and get the rhythm going. With Wasim Akram as bowling coach they should better become lethal as well.
Kings XI Punjab: Easily one of the weakest team of this season. Whatever they have done right in batting or bowling, has been undone by their sloppy and very shabby fielding. Batting too has been a big question mark as all of their top order batsmen hav ben out of form except Ravi Bopara.
Yuvraj did try to hit some form in the match against Royal Challengers however he is still far from being his self. Bowling can easily be termed as mediocre and even after return of Brett Lee, things have not changed. They need a big change in strategy to come up and play for the pride.
Last 5 matches:
KKR: W,L,W,L,L
KXIP: L,L,L,L,W
Players to watch out for:
Brendon Mccullum: The blaster is back in the Kolkata team. He is just back from a productive series with Australia and would be raring to go. With the last year’s debacle bhind him, KKR is performing much better than the last season and have got a chance to make it to semifinals. With no pressure on him, he should be going all out and have fun.
Ajit Agarkar: He has been a bowler who always have a knack of picking up wickets. He does go for few runs however slows the run rate by picking up valuable wickets. Will b inetersting to see ho he fares under pressure of performing and if he can keep the motvation going.
Yuvraj Singh: One of the cleanest striker of the ball looked liked back in touch in the previous game. He is in the situation where he has nothing to lose. His fan would be hoping him to fire all the guns, though KKR would be expecting the reverse of it, as this could spoil their party from reaching the semis.
Sangakarra: Would be eager to prove a point before the final exit from the tournament. Being the captain of a KKR, his form has been very poor through the season. He would be hoping to win this game as well the rest of the remaining matches to get some confidence back. He has to lead the Sri Lankan Team in the next moth T-20 World Cup. So leaving on a winning streak would definitely boost his confidence.
