1st Semi Final match of 2010 Indian Premier League - IPL3

The 1st Semi Final match between Mumbai Indians vs Royal Challengers Bangalore Live Streaming will be played on 21 April 2010 at Chinnaswamy stadium, Bangalore.

Pitch Expectation: This is a batting paradise kind of track. Bat 1st and score over 180 easily. Chasing such big targets are always a tough task.

Peculiar Stats: So the curtains are down on the League stage and the stage is set for the big semifinals. The first of them being, Mumbai Indians vs Royal Challengers Bangalore. One Team (MI) coming into SF as a low performer, not been able to make it to even the half way mark in the last two seasons. The other Team (RCB) for whom the title was so near yet so far in the last edition. Both teams hungry to win, both teams aggressive to launch an all out attack, both teams wanting to become the Champions and both teams being led by two all time Champions of Indian Cricket. It is going to be difficult to choose your favourite team, as the showdown unfolds in DY Patil Stadium, Mumbai on 21st April, 2010.

Mumbai Indians(MI): Without any doubt MI is the best team of IPL-3. Having won 10 out of 14 matches this season, they are the 1st one to qualify for the semis. But the Semifinals is a knock out game and MI haven’t been in this situation before. One bad day could spoil the hard work of entire tournament. Make no mistake RCB is not a weak team, and MI has never won against the RCB at their home ground.

But still MI fans have something to cheer about the fact that DY Patil stadium is not a home ground for MI, neither has MI played any single match against RCB in DY Patil stadium. The two teams met in Mumbai, one at Wankhede Stadium in 2008 and another one at Brabourne Stadium this season. The best thing about the team is that they have started pitching in all together even if Sachin Tendulkar fails.

So, we are looking at Shikhar Dhawan, Keiron Pollard, Saurabh Tiwary, Aditya Tare, Ambati Rayudu, Dwayne Bravo, even Harbhajan Singh to march ahead with the torch for the BIG finals. The batting has been explosive at times, with middle order and lower order chipping in even when Sachin isn’t and that has made the all difference when the world class bowlers come to defend the score. It is going to be difficult to stop MI from entering the Finals of IPL 3.

Royal Challenger Bangalore(RCB): The tournament has remained a topsy-turvy ride for them. There were too much of ups and downs in the tournament. At times they looked like one of the strongest team of the IPL this season. The team is consist of some highly explosive batsmen who could destroy any bowling attack. As far as bowling is concerned, this team is one of the best bowling attacks of IPL with 5 genuine bowlers doing the tricks.

With Kumble as a captain who has led the team very well and his leg breaks are still lethal as they were in 2007 or 2008, he is also the bowler with best economy rate. Praveen Kumar’s hattrick has put him in a different league altogether and Dale Steyn is ruthless as a bowler giving nothing away. The only concern for them would be how to approach their innings in the powerplays as their openers hardly scored over 8-9 per over. Kallis has been the highest scorer for them so far but Uthappa’s quick small innings has impacted more than Kallis’s big scores.

With an odd innings from Virat Kohli, the middle order has not been tested fully which can prove a little costly for them. However, MI still is the toughest team that RCB has played this season and remains to be seen how they will surpass them to reach Finals.

Highest Number of fours for MI – Sachin Tendulkar ( 77)

Player: to watch out for

Sachin Tendulkar: The God of Cricket, has done hardly anything wrong in this year’s IPL. Be it batting or captaincy, he has come out as the best in the business. The critics, the experts and the media had been speechless from past few years when it comes to Sachin Tendulkar’s batting. This time he has got them speechless with this captaincy too. His fans are already overwhelmed and are loving the moment. It would be an electrifying atmosphere in the stadium when Sachin will come out to bat on Wednesday. The fans have loved him everywhere, be it Delhi or Chennai, he got the loudest cheer everywhere and this is Mumbai, his own den. One thing is sure, come what may, Sachin will bat brilliantly in this game as well. Sachin fans would be again saying, BRING IT ON Sach!

Malinga: The deadly bowler from the small island of Sri Lanka has been the lethal weapon in the bowling department for Mumbai Indians. With Zaheer, Harbhajan, Bravo and Pollard he has controlled the things and wouldn’t let any team to dominate MI. It would be interesting to see how his captain Sachin Tendulkar uses him. Generally he is given the ball for one over, at the time of power play and then the rest at the end of the innings. The best thing about him is that he always bowls stumps to stumps. The theory is simple – You Miss I HIT.

Anil Kumble: It would be his test of character. The legend of Indian cricket has played many such matches before but this is the only second time as a captain he is leading a team into the semis. Last time his team couldn’t win the finals, this time he would be desperate to prove himself as winning captain. He has bowled some amazing spells in the power-plays. He would be hoping his batsmen play upto their potential and rest he will take care of when his team would be bowling. The Legend Leg Spinner is raring to GO.

JH Kallis: Probably the best all rounder of his era has been playing really well in this tournament. His stroke-plays are treat to watch, but the thing which is hampering him big time is low strike rate. He is unable to lift the run rate of the team in the power plays which hurts the team most. But like all great cricketers he would too be desperate to reply the critics hard. His bowling is a bonus for the team and if he plays little aggressive when he bats then it would be a tough task for the bowlers to stop him. A race for the orange cap would definitely inspire him to raise his game. Kallis the King !

Trump Players

MI: Pollard - In one over he could change the game for his team. The hulk from Caribbean is all set to fire.

RCB: Uthappa – The hard hitting batsman has the highest numbers of sixes in the tournament and he hits them when it matters the most.

Battles to watch out for:

Tendulkar vs Kallis
Harbhajan vs Kumble
Pollard vs Uthappa
Malinga vs Steyn
Zaheer vs Pieterson
Bravo vs Taylor
