Pitch Expectation: This is supposed to be a batting paradise however the way pitch has played in the second semifinal, it seems its going to be little more help towards bowlers just pitching it a bit short. Bat 1st and score over 180 easily. Chasing such big targets are always a tough ask.
Peculiar Stats
Mumbai Indians (MI): Finally, the Mumbai Indians are in the finals. When Mukesh Ambani bought this IPL team he would have thought of buying a local team. But his icon player and India’s favourite son Sachin Tendulkar has prompted him to linger on other thoughts. This team hasn’t remained a local team, all due to one man, Sachin Tendulkar. He chose the blue color for this team, so as to make himself feel that he is playing for India. When he plays for MI, the whole of India cheers for him and now since his team is in final, all the cricket fans are cheering for his team MI in the upcoming finals.
The owners of the Team would be happy enough to see MI getting support from all the corners of India. The team is playing well even when Tendulkar is unable to perform, this is where they have an advantage. Just adding Sachin’s nam to a Team gives you an advantage over the opposition. Mumbai Indians have had been the most consistent team of this year’s IPL not just because Sachin has ben very instrumental in getting them there but also, because the local talent and the overseas players have played in tandem to make it a Team effort.
Batting has been exemplary, with Sachin and Shikhar Dhawan giving great starts, solidified by Rayudu, Tiwary and Duminy and then final assault being launched by Keiron Pollard and Harbhajan Singh. As far as bowling is concerned, MI is fortunate to have bowlers like Malinga, Zaheer and Harbhajan who can turn the match around from any situation. Aptly supported by Pollard, Bravo, the Team looks in great rhythm right now.
With Jonty Rhodes as the fielding coach, there can’t be anything more to be mentioned here. Its not just a battle between God of Cricket vs Captain Cool of India but also, between two teams playing top cricket for a perfect Face-off. Mumbai Indians – Duniya Hila Denge Hum !
Chennai Super Kings (CSK): What a performance, what a team and what a leader. 2 matches, half stage, looked like losing the matches and both the time they won it at the end. Dhoni got injured and Raina leading the team upto the half way, and they seem to have dim chances of making it to the Finals, but with the return of Dhoni, returned the light at the end of Tunnel and they won two pretty close matches to stamp the authority.
Thoroughly deserve to be into the Finals. The captain cool is all set to win the most prestigious domestic tournament in terms of popularity. This is the second time they have reached the Finals. They are the underdogs and if any one of their batsmen from Hayden, Vijay, Raina or Dhoni fires on Sunday then it would be difficult for the MIs to win the finals.
Their bowling has shown what damage they could do against the Chargers. Dhoni’s only problem is the start, his openers ain’t playing well and failing against the MI in the finals would hurt them most. MI won’t repeat the mistake like Chargers, so any thing less than 160 would not be defend-able against the likes of MI batting line up. Dhoni would be hoping Sachin remains unfit for the finals so that the psychological effect would help his team.
The bowling has come off age too from being the weakest bowling line up of the tournament, they have been able to defend even meagre 142 runs in the semifinals. Super Kings roaring high and loud and would not want to let go of this opportunity of being the Champion, this time around.

Players to watch out for
K Pollard: He has been outstanding in the last few matches and proved his worth. Has played some blistering shots at the end of the innings which helped the team to score loads of runs in the end. His bowling has become a secret weapon against the opposition and the young lad is superb on the field with his fielding. Without a doubt he has came out as the trump player for MI. MI would be hoping him to fire again and CSK would be hoping the exact reverse of it.
Harbhajan Singh:The aggressive Sardar is ready to take on Haydo and co. Once Hayden called him “obnoxious little weed” when India were touring Australia, Bhajji hasn’t forgotten those words. He would be ready to take on Hayden in the powerplay itself like he did with Gilly. His batting is something that adds bonus to any team. Once he starts going, he is just unstoppable. MI need some real aggresive players and Bhajji is one of them.
Bollinger: What an asset to the team! Bowled exceptionally well in the semi final. Chennai Super Kings looked like the weakest bowling attack till he was a part of the team and changed total outlook then. He has been instrumental in providing the breakthroughs right at the start of the innings. Its going to be not easy to see him off and MI batsmen would be well aware about it.
Shadab Jakati: He has been a trump card for Dhoni. The left armer did not get much chance at the start of the tournament however once R Ashwin could not eep up his form, Jakati was included in the Chennai Team and has been instrumental in keeping the run rate under check and also providing crucial breakthroughs to the team. Remains to be seen how he fares against the best Spin player in the world.
Battles to watch out for:
Sachin vs Bollinger
Pollard vs Murli
Hayden vs Malinga
Dhoni vs Harbhajan
Raina vs Fernando
Vijay vs Zaheer
Tiwary vs Jakati
