Chennai Super Kings vs Rajasthan Royals – IPL 2010 – 32nd Match

Pitch: It’s a day game and pitch looks good to bat on. It’s flat and dry. Team who will win the toss would like to bat 1st and the pitch will get slower in the second half o the game.

Peculiar Stats

Chennai Super Kings: The two times semi finalist of previous 2 IPL’s, are struggling to get a place in this current IPL. They have already lost to the Rajasthan Royals in their previous face to face meeting at Ahmedabad. But then playing at home is always a different thing. MI, RCB, DD and even KKR doing well in their backyard. So this could be a morale booster for them. The middle order still looks bit weak. Other than Raina, hardly anyone has played upto his potential. It would be interesting who they replace Mike Hussey with. Hussey would definitely strengthen the team’s middle order. CSK have the upper hand in the game and they should win this game.

Rajasthan Royals: Whatever Gambhir said in the post match ceremony is quite true if we look the stats and the facts. Apart from Yousuf Pathan no other player looks threatening to the opposition. Though they won 4 games back to back but they have not chased any good target successfully in this season, which is bit of concern for Warne. If CSK scores over 160 runs then all would depend how Yousuf would play. Warne should let his trump player to play maximum overs whether they are batting first or second. Tait was a disaster in the game against DD. But then you cannot write off Shane Warne that easily. He must be ready with his plans and it would be better for CSK not to take RR easily.

Players to watch out for

Mathew Hayden: He is due for a big one. Apart from his 93 against the DD he hasn’t played any significant knock. Would be licking his lips as he has to face an average bowling team of the season. Ths mongoose bat is not been of any use and Hayden would be thumping his luck on his own power hitting rather than just on the Mongoose power. With Vijay playing well on the other end, he should feel less pressure to give a good start to the team and should play his natural game.

Suresh Raina: This boy have certainly impressed quite a few people in the cricket world. Have been in very good touch and definitely the back bone of CSK batting line up. He could be one of the best finisher of the T20 games. It’s always good to see youngster like him who hardly slog even in T-20 cricket.

Shane Warne: He is the biggest inspiration and motivator for his team. From 3 back to back loss to 4 back to back wins, Warne is still fighting with hardly any big star in the team. Form is temporary, Class is permanent is a perfect line for the magical spin king from Victoria. What’s there in his armory is still a guess work.

Yousuf Pathan: This player is the only player from RR which threatens the opposition. The superstar of IPL games must be missing his key partners like Jadeja and Watson all the time. He should come up in the batting order and should stay as long as possible. Run would come by itself if he stays on wicket. His bowling is always a bonus to his team.

Battles to watch out for:

Hayden vs Tait

Dhoni vs Warne

Pathan vs Murli

Ohja vs Morkel
