Ironical it is that they started out not so strongly in the tournament, slowly and gradually have moved up the points table and sitting pretty at third position now.

Fielding has been superb with veteran Muralitharan and Hayden just leading the way. The only area of concern was bowling, which seemed toothless in the half of the tournament, as Dhoni wasn’t able to get the correct combination going.

Delhi Daredevils: A spineless performance against Mumbai Indians had produced a demotivated loss for Delhi Daredevils. With Mumbai already in semifinals, Delhi needed to win this one to make sure a semifinal berth for them too, but they failed to display the unity and inspired performance to take them through.

Atleast one of the two star batsmen, Gambhir or Sehwag needs to pull out an inspired performance for the team to pull the socks again and make a cut. They aren’t out as of now, however, this match against Chennai have put them to the wall and they will have to win this one to give themselves some chance out there and not leaving to the others.

Batting has been the main area of concern for the Delhi team, with no consistent performances from top of the order. Dilshan, Sehwag, AB devilliars, Warner, Gambhir, all these make an explosive batting line up, unfortunately all of them are out of form. On field this team has been great but when it comes to running between wickets they are leading the table here.

Bowlers need to pull up the socks to provide good solid performances, they gave good start against Mumbai but allowed the Middle order batsmen to consolidate which laid the platform for Pollard to blast into the last over. No doubt about the talent this team carries, they just need to play to their potential and play as a collective unit, and thus, that glittering Semifinal berth will be theirs.

Players to watch out for:

Mahendra Singh Dhoni: Captain Cool, he is the one who leads from the front. Was out for ten days from the IPL3 due to the injury which kind of derailed the CSK from its track of winning the IPL3 title. He has led the team very well in all three editions of the tournament, should be able to make the cut one more time, with the kind of motivation he provides to the team. Aptly put by spinner Ashwin after the match against KKR that, he just backs us with our ability which takes away all pressure from ourselves.

Suresh Raina: He is the only consistent player at the top of the order of CSK team. The highest run getter of all time in the IPL, Raina has been unleashed and is perhaps the find of the season after strings of flops and injury scares. One of the best fielders in Indian Cricket, he is becoming an asset to the team and justified his T20 world cup selection.

Virender Sehwag: Declared as the Wisden Cricketer of the Year for the second year in a row, Sehwag must get the inspiration and play a big one here. He is getting the starts but not converting them into big ones has been the issue. Sehwag will have to fire if Delhi Daredevils has to win this match and move a step towards the semifinals.

Amit Mishra: The spinner who got the purple cap few days back, got a bit hassled against Mumbai, however he is Delhi Daredevils best bet along wth Daniel Vettori to give them a breakthrough and put the records straight. Amit has been most consistent performer for Delhi all through the three seasons. This time he just have to show it.
